Someone actually called me judgmental...
Wait, though, until you hear the reason why. This person is on a mom's site googled her nickname (I use practicalchick or practical chick for everything so I am pretty easy to find online LOL). She was upset that her profile, her messages (and thus every thing she said about her hubby negative) would be able to be found by him if he was to try and find it.

My response was pretty simple - something along the lines of don't say anything to anyone about your hubby that you wouldn't want him to say about you to someone else...but that is just my opinion.

The last three words, to me, are the key words. She responded to me that if he found it then screw it, he deserved to know. My thought - that I did NOT post was that if the problem was that bad why not go to him instead of a bunch of people that you know nothing of?

Some other person said I was being "judgmental" because more than 50% of marriages end in divorce...gee - I wonder why. If was was being nagged, harped on, put down, etc etc - I wouldn't hang around either because it is pretty obvious I could never please you in any fashion.

Yeah - me living by the golden rule and loving the First Amendment and following God's rule about not nagging (hey - I understand that everyone needs to vent from time to time)...that makes me "judgmental". What do you think about it?

The countdown begins
I cannot wait until November 16. Why, you ask? Because that is Statehood Day and I, as a public servant, get the day OFF. To double the fun - The Cop Magnet has to work and the kids have school! So my plan is as follows:

1. Take the kids to school.

2. Go back to sleep.

3. What ever I want!

If you love me...
The Bible says, "If you love me - you will keep my commandments." What is the greatest commandment? Love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul...and to love your neighbor (that's a toughie for me for some of my neighbors) as yourself. If you are a Christian - have you shared your faith (The Great Commission) with them?

So check out http://www.wotmradio.com

Because who doesn't love them some Kirk Cameron everyday?

What a weekend.
I finally got a car Friday night, the lap top's cord went out (that's going to cost me $60 this weekend to replace), I have a huge paper due, and Monkey Butt turned 7.

I had this philosophical post all ready to go for this blog...but, screw it. It's Monday and I'm tired. On the plus side - I got a black Grand AM GT with ram air.

Oh and I had my first home show and only ONE person showed up. It would have been two, but my neighbor (the one that I like) was re-diagnosed with cancer and now it is in her back. She did place an order of almost $40. So now you can order for my party online. Just click here and then Enter Book Store and then click on my name on the right.

Oh can I? Oh Can I?
I want to be a talk show host!!

You Should Be a Politician

Confident, assertive, and dedicated - you know what you want in life and how to get it.
Stubborn and opinionated, you can stand your ground... even if it's unpopular.
And while you have strong views, you never overwhelm people with your opinions.
A true charmer, you subtly influence people into seeing things your way.

You do best when you:

- Work according to your own rules
- Can change the world with what you do

You would also be a good lawyer or talk show host.

That includes Osama Bin Laden, you know...does that tickle you as much as it tickles me?

Kind of a bust
One person for the whole e-show...kind of makes the scavenger hunt a little easy. We plan on doing it again next week, though.

All in all - the week has been rough. Bry-onicle is recovering from bronchitis. I used ALL of my leave to take care of him last week...oh and I lost control of the Z and now I have to buy a car for sure.

Kids are strange
Monkey Butt said, "When I have kids, I am going to name one Sheen and the other one Happy Gilmore."

Mom: I don't think your wife will go for that.

MB: Then I won't get married. I'll adopt.

Mom: Fine - then I, the future grandmother, will say no because those children will have to go to school one day.

We all know what happens when you have a strange name...the only reason Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter Apple will get out of being picked on is because mama is insanely rich.

Birth control for little girls
How sad is it that a school will bypass parental consent to let a child know (and we aren't even talking about sixteen or seventeen years old) that it is okay to have sex as long as it is safe. Is it any wonder are children are seen as sexual objects when they are treated like them in school?

What happened to the days of teaching girls that they are worth the wait? They deserve someone that will love and cherish...not some pimple faced boy that's just out to get get his rocks off.

Don't get me wrong - boys need to be taught responsibility too...it's called "keeping it in your pants until you make enough money to support a mini-me".

But - come on...at 8 and 11 do we really need to be preaching birth control? Yeah, menses has probably started...then we need to teach them to be responsible women and to LOVE themselves by waiting.

SMRT - I mean SMART
He is so smart...SMRT I mean SMART.

So Bry-onicle was hanging out with me and The Cop Magnet while TCM was doing his homework. It was all about hypothetical syllogisms. So you know - you have to mark them valid and invalid.

Even with a fever of 103 - Bry-onicle's brain was not scrambled.

Here was the syllogism:

If we voted more conservatives in, taxes would be less. Taxes are higher because we do not have enough conservatives in.

This is false (as Bry-onicle pointed out) because things like this must be voted on and we all know how politicians LOVE to change their minds once they get into office....

Go Bry-onicle!

Zero time
I've had no time to post between on campus interviews, a car with a blown engine, and a very sick kid. It seems that Bry-onicle has now decided that he likes to run a fever of 103. It's been like this since Friday. So off to the doc he goes today. Actually, it started Thursday so I let him stay home (he was throwing up). Now he's just coughing.

The Parable of the Wedding
I am going to use the Amplified Bible for what I have to say. First the parable which can be found in Matthew 22:

AND AGAIN Jesus spoke to them in parables (comparisons, stories used to illustrate and explain), saying,

2The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son

3And sent his servants to summon those who had been invited to the wedding banquet, but they refused to come.

Liken this to going to church since the church is the bride of Jesus. We invite, invite, and invite...but sometimes people refuse to come.

4Again he sent other servants, saying, Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have prepared my banquet; my bullocks and my fat calves are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the wedding feast.

5But they were not concerned and paid no attention [they ignored and made light of the summons, treating it with contempt] and they went away--one to his farm, another to his business,

The world seems to busy, unconcerned, or downright angry at the fact that we think they should go to church....or rather that God is calling them to church.

6While the others seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and put them to death.

Death can take place in many forms - death of a friendship, spiritual death, persecution...things that make us, as the laborers, feel like what we are doing is just something that isn't worth it.

7[Hearing this] the king was infuriated; and he sent his soldiers and put those murderers to death and burned their city.

God knows how we are being treated - so take heart...because He will mete judgment as necessary,

8Then he said to his servants, The wedding [feast] is prepared, but those invited were not worthy.

When the world denies God - they are not worthy to be in His presence (even though He will gladly take them back if they repent.

9So go to the thoroughfares where they leave the city [where the main roads and those from the country end] and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.

Get out of your comfort zone and invite other people - as many as you can find. What's the worst they can do? Tell you no, right? Just because they tell you no doesn't mean that you have failed and that they are going to hell because of you. You did your part to lay the seed.

10And those servants went out on the crossroads and got together as many as they found, both bad and good, so [the room in which] the wedding feast [was held] was filled with guests.

You just never know who will end up coming to the church...some will be ready and hungry and others won't be. You can have a full church, but it won't mean that everyone there is spiritual. So don't be there as a "guest" to worry about the other guests. Be there to prepare for the wedding!

11But when the king came in to view the guests, he looked intently at a man there who had on no wedding garment.

Don't worry about who is there...God knows and He will take care of it. Be there and be ready with your wedding attire on (your holiness, your righteousness, and your sincere want to be with God.

12And he said, Friend, how did you come in here without putting on the [appropriate] wedding garment? And he was speechless ([a]muzzled, gagged).

13Then the king said to the attendants, Tie him hand and foot, and throw him into the darkness outside; there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.

14For many are called (invited and summoned), but few are chosen.

What is it for YOU? Were you only invited or called to church? Or did God choose you to hang around and become prepared?

If he called you to hang around and become prepared - get busy. What are somethings you can do?

The devil masquarades as a car salesman
So...by Tuesday I will know for sure if I am done with the car shopping fiasco.

We went to a Hyundai dealership to look around and I test 08 Elantra that was right off the truck. It is the same size as a Honda Accord. It was blue. Speaking of Honda, The Cop Magnet's Civic might have a seized engine.... So even if we just bought one car we are back to square one since the Camaro is really not going to do well doing an 8o mile round trip every day.

By the time we left (four hours later) we are getting the Elantra and an Accent (07 - with the sports package of course). We were told to pick the Accent up yesterday. We were up there at 8:30 and we were told that it wouldn't be ready until 10. We drove 50 miles at this point, so we just went to BK and had breakfast and let the kids play in the play place. We go back and we are told that the dealership is just waiting for the bank to open...I knew right there that it was a lie. The bank they are using isn't open on Saturdays. They said they would call us before the OU / TX game. Of course - they don't.

We called every hour and finally told them we wanted to know something by 6. They don't call so The Cop Magnet calls them back. He talks to someone that claimed to be the GM and was told that they never approved the second car and that now we are stuck with just the one. The Cop Magnet told him that our signed contract says and that they will either fulfill it or they can take back the Elantra and we would sue for breach. All of a sudden - they now want us to come back to the city (in the rain) and talk about it.

The sales guy was waiting and said that everything would be straightened out on Tuesday since Monday is a holiday and the bank will be closed. He said that he would drive to Norman to have me sign the papers and then that he would drive to OKC to have The Cop Magnet sign. We made them put that in writing and we made it very clear that if it doesn't happen, I will bring the car back and take my business else where. It is a matter of principle.

It is a nice car, but I will not tolerate being lied to.

Off to church!

Samson and Delilah - the moral of the story
Okay, so we are in Judged 16:4-31 tonight. Essentially, Delilah was a nag...surprise surprise - Samson eventually gave in. We all know what happened to him. Moral one: women can be trouble. Not all women - look at the Proverbs 31 woman...she was a good one.

Moral two: sometimes we have to live with the consequences of our actions. He fessed up to Delilah that he'd never had his head shaved, and that if it happened he would lose all his power. Not only that - they poked his eyes out and pretty much gave him the job as an oxen in the grind stone.

Moral three: God is always with us and as long as you ask for things in His will, you will get a yes. They took Samson to be made fun of and attached him to pillars. He asked God for one last act of strength and God granted it. Samson knew he wouldn't get out of that mess alive, but he killed more Philistines that day than during his entire life.

Ya know...
Sometimes working at my job is just as good as going to the state fair. Why? Because of all the free stuff you get... Today I received two bags, a t-shirt, and a watch. Yesterday I got a hat. Sometimes the recruiters even bring us food. I love it when they do that.
