And away I go....
I have an MRI this morning to find out about the tendons and ligaments or whatever they are in your foot. This should tell me how long I have to wear the cast. The boys only have two days of school this week and I have three days of work.

I am ready for a nap already. Don't know where I'll park at work - the parking lot I usually park in will no doubt be full. It will be a LONG walk to the building with crutches. Parking is the only thing I don't like about my job.

T-10
And counting of course...I am so looking forward to the 16th.

I have to take off early again to pick up the kids. I don't mind (since they are my kids), but it would really help if I had more than, oh, 2 hours notice. So today I get no lunch so I can take off at 3:30 and take 30 minutes personal time.

When we get home, we are behind on laundry, dishes, dusting, and vacuuming...and I have class.

I know, I know...gripe gripe gripe. It's early - what can I say?

Bry-onicle is going on a field trip today to the capital and tomorrow going on the VIP lunch with the 4th grade teachers to Taco Mayo. I have to remember to get some money for that.

The countdown begins
I cannot wait until November 16. Why, you ask? Because that is Statehood Day and I, as a public servant, get the day OFF. To double the fun - The Cop Magnet has to work and the kids have school! So my plan is as follows:

1. Take the kids to school.

2. Go back to sleep.

3. What ever I want!

We are so twinkie-licious
Today is the Professional and Graduate School Career Fair...therefore, we are all dressed in our Khaki OUCS shirts and black pants / skirts. I'll try and snag a pic later for yall if I can.

Oh and did you know that jerkwater is a real word? It means trivial!

Ya know...
Sometimes working at my job is just as good as going to the state fair. Why? Because of all the free stuff you get... Today I received two bags, a t-shirt, and a watch. Yesterday I got a hat. Sometimes the recruiters even bring us food. I love it when they do that.

And then there was clacking...
Today was busier than expected. After getting a "revised" schedule from an employer coming, it took me the entire day to finish it. It wasn't because the schedule was that difficult or time consuming...we were just busier than expected. We had a steady stream of students before we left for the career fair. Some of which looked like they played dress up in mommy's or daddy's closets; bless their hearts at least they tried. I was glad when my two favorite student workers came in this afternoon (all of them are my favorites - I just tell them each they are my favorite). I could finally get stuff finished up and help Crabcakes try and catch up.

And then there was clacking...my fingers on the keyboard with Mr. Crabs blabbing something to Spongebob in the background. One time I took a typing test and the guy administering it said to me that he sure wished I was around during 'nam. My fingers can hit the keys so quickly it sounds like machine gun fire on certain keyboards. I thinks I would have given heart attacks to many of the "enemy"; not from my stunning good looks, mind you!

Now that was a random story for you, huh?

Off to bed - the Lunesta is kicking in.

And I guess that's just the way it goes...
The last two weeks have seemed to be never ending.

Bry-onicle just got over a very slight case of a stomach bug; no puking...just felt like crap and had a headache for two days. He still went to school, but when he would come home he would go right to sleep for two full hours.

Monkey Butt woke up this morning feeling bad. The Cop Magnet feels bad; so the deal is that if the school calls, I call him and he'll go get him.

I kind of feel ripped off cause I am mucho tired, too. It's amazing, really. I spent so long with insomnia that I didn't realize how tired I was. Now that I take Lunesta, if I miss some sleep I do realize how tired I was.

Today is one of our university's largest career fair. Over 200 employers are coming and over 2000 students will attend. My guess is more will come because yesterday alone we saw over 100 students just during walk-in. That isn't counting the 1000 or so we saw last week.

So I will be there from like 11:30ish to 2:00 (or 1:30). The good news is that we get free lunch out of it and get out of the office...on top of that - it should be really quiet and we should get some crap done around there since all the students (the smart ones that plan ahead when it comes to employment) should be at the career fair.

BTW - have you ever read Hammurabi's code? Have you even ever heard of him? Death was punishment for a lot of crimes....and let's just say that Draco was no better (perhaps a little more violent in his methods of execution; hence the term draconian punishment).

What a week
Yesterday, alone, we had over 1000 students come through our doors. It was amazing. It is almost insanely busy. Working for a law school a couple of years ago partially prepared me.

On campus interviews start in the middle of the coming week.

I like my job, but I am looking forward to Christmas. One great thing about working for a university is that you typically get a week off at Christmas.

Demands were met

Just an ordinary day...
Or is it? For you see, today is the day before the OU Football season kick off! It is a home game at 6 tomorrow evening. Everyone has gotten out their crimson and cream shirts. I went to Sprawl-Mart to buy a shirt I've been eyeing for a while and they are GONE! It was a clever shirt, too. It said, "Southern girls know their primary colors...crimson and cream!"

The air is filled with the smell of curly fries and there are American Red Cross signs everywhere for yet another blood drive - they have OU shirts, but I can't donate again. I think I am just done with donating though...I was sick for several days after the last time. Usually I don't get sick.

I guess the real question of the day is...will Mr. Frosty fulfill his promise to by Crab Cakes a Frosty from downstairs since I returned his silly little glass water bottle without harm yesterday? He left it on my counter so I held it for ransom... I warned him that if he neglected to fulfill his end of the bargain his water bottle might disappear.

So that's your daily (well, you know as well as I do that I won't update this daily) installment of As the Office Swivels (Swivels - brought to you by Mr. Frosty!).

Here we are...
Another Thursday and I don't have time to play TT. Oh, I could post - but I wouldn't have time to revisit everyone that stops by. I might put something up later just because and not go to TT and tell everyone. This is our busy time at the big university. Students are getting ready for on campus interviews and we are working hard on the employer side to get the schedules up.

Yesterday and today I work 9 - 6.

Funny stuff!
Ever seen a ball room dancing class? Even better - ever seen a ball room dancing class full of young, college students? Funnier than a fifth grade winter formal!

Note to self..
When giving blood at University of Oklahoma...don't tell an OU / Texas joke if you aren't sure if your nurse is a Sooner fan. Turns out that her dad was a Longhorn...which she told me after she stuck me so hard she hit a nerve. You know what, though? If you bring your butt to my college you best be ready to hear some smack. My arm still hurts in the shoulder. I think I won't be doing it in anymore. Usually I don't get so light headed but I am just really messed up from it.

In other business, the University was holding a mock evacuation of the stadium...you get a free t-shirt if you go...that was the ploy. I wanted to know if it said, "I survived my government 'trying' to save me and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!"

Sigh
So today was the first day of classes at the big state university I work for. I was ready for that; I like busy. What I wasn't ready for was to be blown off at the bus stop.

While I am glad not to have to kick Bry-onicle out from behind my skirt tail (my worry for a while), I was not ready to be ignored. Ladies and gentlemen - a pre-pre-teen as entered into my midst. I am so glad that Monkey Butt is still young enough to think I'm cool. Bry-onicle wants to walk to the bus stop by himself (well, with his little brother too).

Well my co-horts co-workers found out today the area of OKC that I grew up in. I was the white girl that grew up down in the ghetto. So now they call me Scrappy. Great.

Word of the day: refluent
When something is refluent it is made by a backwash of water. Here, I used the word in a sentence for you:

The chunks in my cup appear to be from the refluence of liquid that returned from my three year old niece’s mouth back into my drink…mmmm backwash!

I used it at work to which I received, "You're sick! Shut up!" from a co-worker that doesn't have children.
