I've got wood!
By tomorrow I might even have laminate AND a toilet!

Remember that I told you...
Pup Dog pulled up the laminate in the bathroom. Well it turns out that was a blessing in disguise. If he wouldn't have done that, we wouldn't have known the floor under it was rotten...not only that, but whoever remodeled this place laid plywood over the original floor. I mean, they did not even bother to clean it. The Cop Magnet found make up under there...not to mention enough mold and mildew to choke a horse.

I guess the good news is that at least no one was sitting on the toilet when the floor caved in, right?

So this picture above is what Pup Dog did to the floor - essentially just pulling up the laminate, but that is when we noticed that the board underneath was rotting.

You can see the original floor in this picture...it is actually a good half an inch lower than the area where you see Poppy's legs. That's The Cop Magnet's butt over there in the corner..

Good thing no one was on the toilet when it gave way, huh? Yeah, The Cop Magnet pulled most of it up, but some of it just started caving in. The other good news (if we can look at the bright side) is that the wood under the tub seems to be fine. Good thing that Poppy was a professional carpenter (and now does it just strictly as a hobby). He might have Parkinson's, but he still works his butt off (even if it is just supervising!).That brown spot on the wall? Oh, that's where the previous owners decided not to move the toilet to paint the wall...good thing it isn't winter - and good thing there are no creepy crawlies under White Trash Central...also a good thing we have two bathrooms.

I'll try and keep you updated via photos.

Great...
And things at White Trash Central just continue to improve... I don't know if I told yall but my practically brand new dishwasher (we bought it new when we moved in here 2 1/2 years ago) quit working about two weeks ago. I knew it was leaking some where because the floor was buckling up a little bit at the sink...

Well, Poppy came over today to look at it. He took it out and he fixed some switch that was broken (it will turn on now) and found the leak (the heater coil). He just left for Home Depot to get a new heater coil for me...well not for me, my hot flashes are just fine thank-you-very-much.

So hopefully by the end of the day the White Trash Cafe will have a running dishwasher again.

Thinking of remodeling...
My best friend was talking today about remodeling her house. They redid the bathroom that the kids use. I was talking to The Cop Magnet last week about wanting to paint and remodel the trailer a little. It is already nice on the inside, but it could be better. It will feel better to me when it has a touch of me.

I already know what color I am going to do my bathroom. I found a color at Sprawl-Mart called Blue Pool. I like that color - it goes well with my shower curtain (it has pastel blues, greens, and purples...and dragonflies). Right now, I have vanity lighting which I hate for a couple of reasons. One, the bulbs burn out often. Two, half the bathroom is still dark. So I decided to start looking at lights.

Here are links to some things I am considering. Let me know what you think.

I was thinking about getting something similar to these small lights to go on the side of the bathroom that is dark:

I really like the etched glass...and I think $54 is a pretty good price!!

To replace the vanity lights I am thinking of going with something like this:

I think that's pretty nice! Of course, then I would have to do the silver version of the other light instead of the bronze. It's about $100, but they offer free shipping. I like free!! Who doesn't, though?

They have more, though. I am still going through the links but I am pretty impressed. They also have an ebay store.

Found the air leak!!
So ever since we bought this place, the boys' room has just been plain cold...doesn't matter what time of year it is.

Me and Monkey Butt were sitting in his room (with the door open) playing Tony Hawk and I was sitting right by that wall...and I could feel the cold air. So The Cop Magnet decided to pull off the paneling and fill it with that foaming insulation that you can get at Sprawl Mart. The stuff expands. It took three cans (and a bit of butt scratching with the hammer), but their room is now warm!

And yes, their windows are blacked out. It helps with the AC bill during the summer because of the end of the house they are on.

Eat your heart out Bob Vila.
